Facial Rejuvenation

Discover a beauty secret used by Chinese nobility for thousands of years. This treatment was provided for the Empress and Emperor’s concubines as early as the Sung Dynasty (960-1270 AD). For centuries, the Chinese have known that beauty radiates from inside out. If the internal body is nourished and the energy and blood are flowing smoothly, the external body will reveal this radiance. Facial Rejuvenation includes acupuncture, facial massage, dietary recommendations and internal herbal therapy. By addressing the needs of the skin and the body from the inside out, this whole body treatment not only benefits the face, but all of the body’s physiological systems, so an improvement in overall health is achieved as well.

Treatment Plan

Cosmetic acupuncture is a safe non-surgical technique to promote beauty and overall wellness. Treatments should be twice a week or weekly for 10 weeks and typically last between 75-90 minutes. The treatment will start with a in depth interview of overall health, facial analysis, shiatsu massage of the head and neck followed by ultra fine sterile needles inserted into the superficial layers of the face to stimuate the body’s healing energies. The needles are left in place 20-30 minutes on the face and further points may be added to balance the body. During the treatment the patient may experience warmth in their face and a sense of deep relaxation.

While it may take 8-10 treatments to see lasting effects from your facial acupuncture regimen, you will likely see and feel some effects after your first session. To maintain lasting effects, monthly subsequent facial acupuncture treatments after the initial set are recommended. Results and the required number of follow-up treatments can depend on the individual’s consistency with treatment, diet, lifestyle, and exposure to toxins.

Contraindications

If you have had recent facial surgeries or Botox injections within the past six months we would need to discuss the best approach in support of your overall health. The effect of acupuncture is to rejuvenate the face with qi (energy) and fluids; Botox works by doing the opposite. If acupuncture is used in areas which were recently injected with Botox there is a risk of enlivening the tissue, resulting in possible facial asymmetry if part of the face remains paralyzed by Botox. While limited facial acupuncture is still possible if you’ve recently received Botox injections, it is very important that you are able to identify the exact muscles which were injected so we are able to work around those during your sessions. Bruising may occur, so please talk to your practitioner about any bleeding disorders you may have or if you are on blood thinners. Please notify your practitoner if you have any allergies as Chinese herbal masks and essential oils may be used to enhance relaxation.
