Acute vs Chronic Pain
Pain in your back, neck, joints and muscles can be caused by so many factors – sitting at a desk too long, stress, a physically demanding job or training, recent or past injuries, chronic depression, postural problems or inflammation.
Acute pain is usually more sudden and severe; when we have an injury or a temporary health condition. Chronic pain is pain which persists beyond 12 weeks and can be associated with chronic disease or depression. Treating chronic pain usually takes consecutive treatments over a longer period of time.
Traditional Chinese medicine views pain as a condition where the energy of the body is stuck or “stagnant” and the Qi flow becomes blocked. In addition to Acupuncture, we utilize a number of techniques including Cupping, Gua-sha, Moxibustion, Tui-na, Plasters and Chinese herbs to treat pain related issues.
